Transport

Budapest is the transport center of the country. From here, the main railway and road lines run radially to the country's counties and major European cities. The leading road sections of the capital are extremely crowded, on weekdays there are regular congestions in the city due to the passing traffic and people commuting by car between the agglomeration settlements. It is therefore recommended to use public transport.

The capital's public transport is exceptionally good. There are 11 types of transport in Budapest (4 metro, 5 HÉV, 36 trams, 16 trolleybuses, 240 day and 43 night bus routes), as well as the Budavári lift, Libegő (seater lift), children's railway and cogwheel, as well as small boat services on the Danube.

In addition to public transport, there are three community car-sharing services (MOL Limo, GreenGo and DriveNow), as well as city bike (MOL Bubi) or scooter sharing (Lime, Bird, Tier).

The capital has the Ferihegy International Airport, four major bus stations (Népliget, Kelenföld, Stadionok and Árpád híd) and four major international train stations, the Keleti, Nyugati, Déli and Kelenföldi railway stations, from which you can travel to rural or international cities.

For public transport in Budapest, it is recommended to download the BKK (Budapest Transport Center) application, which will contain the timetables of all the capital's means of transport. You can find the price of transport tickets here!
